Why I hate (some) people

Why I hate (some) people – The last few days I thought a lot about what topic I should write about next. While I couldn’t really decide between things like movies, video games or similar things I like or that happened in my life, there was something that happened yesterday that managed to make that decision for me.

  • What happened

While I was going for a walk with my fiancée yesterday afternoon I noticed an older woman and her granddaughter riding their bikes on the road. The woman also had a bike trailer attached to her bicycle which made me assume that there was either a small child or a dog inside it. The woman suddenly turned her head around and stopped her bike on the side of the road while there were cars approaching from behind them. Luckily there was enough distance and space for the cars to drive past the two bikes.

Since I wasn’t sure why they had stopped and it almost looked like the woman was planning on going up to the sidewalk I asked her if they needed any help, which she simply turned down. Because of that we simply continued with our walk and I just heard the woman say something like „Can you get back there and get it“ to her granddaughter. After we walked a couple of meters I saw something lying on the street and the young girl driving her bike on the road in the wrong direction to get it.

While I at first just assumed what it was that was lying on the road, it really turned out to be a pack of cigarettes the woman had lost while riding her bike. And instead of just letting it stay there or looking for a safe spot to stop/turn around she somehow thought it was the best idea to immediately stop and send the girl back in the opposite direction of traffic to get them.

  • The aftermath

I was so pissed at the behaviour of the woman that I immediately mentioned to my bride-to-be that if one of our parents will ever be riding a bike with one of our kids in the future and decides it would be a good idea to endanger the life of the child for an effin‘ pack of smokes they would never be left alone with one of our kids again. I wonder if the parents of the girl are aware about how little the kid’s grandmother thinks about her safety while she is alone with her.

Even when I think about it today I still get angry at the woman for that even though I have no clue who she is. I just can’t get into the mindset of a person who thinks a pack of cigarettes (that probably cost her something like 5 Euros) is more valuable than the safety of a kid (especially if it’s their own child/grandchild). Why are people like this? Who in their right mind would do that? That’s just one example of despicable behaviour why I hate (some) people.

  • Conclusion

There is so much pointless carelessness, thoughtlessness as well as hate in this world that stems from people not thinking through their actions or being brought up in a toxic environment that it’s really stressful to feel good as a human being sometimes. The simplest thing to do against this is probably to try and lead as an example and be kind to strangers and treat people with the respect you would like them to treat you with.

Just because someone was born in a different environment (or country) or believes in other things than you do, it does not mean that person is worth more or less than you are. Everybody should be treated as equal. I don’t want to get too political in this post right now because this might end up in a way longer post than it was intended to be. Let’s just say that I believe in Karma. For everything good you do to someone else, there will – at one point in your life – happen something good to you. The same of course also applies to bad things.
